5 Best Coffee Shops in the Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley Area (LOCALS GUIDE 2024)

Looking for the best coffee shops in the Joshua Tree Area? We're always on the hunt for new and exciting spots in our neighborhood so today we're sharing our top five favorite local coffee shops that you absolutely can't miss during your stay in the high desert. Whether you're a certified "coffee snob" or someone who enjoys a classic diner-style brew, we've got you covered.

#1 Joshua Tree Coffee Company - With New Indoor Area

Joshua Tree Coffee Company is a favorite among visitors and a high desert staple. Their quality beans are ordered worldwide and it's honestly some of the best coffee we've ever tasted. We're such fans of their beans that we offer them to our Airbnb guests. They've recently opened their charming brick-and-mortar shop, adorned in their signature pink and blue. Located in downtown Joshua Tree, it mirrors a sophisticated coffee spot you'd find in a major city regarding décor and quality. Keep in mind, seating is limited.

#2 The Natural Sisters Cafe

Located in the heart of downtown Joshua Tree, The Natural Sisters Cafe is our top pick because it's our favorite spot to enjoy a variety of coffee creations, as well as being able to grab some more health conscious breakfast or lunch options. From iced coffees to blended chai lattes, their coffee and tea menu is delightful. They also offer fresh, organic juices and mouthwatering smoothies. Although it's a small venue with limited seating, remember: good things often come in small packages. Their menu, catering to both vegetarian and vegan options, is a feast for the senses. Trust us: their egg wrap and its accompanying sauce are divine. If it's too busy, consider The Dez next door (more on that below).

#3 Mas o Menos

Mas o Menos, located just on the outer edge of Joshua Tree, offers delectable coffees, flat whites and teas by day, transitioning to a lively cocktail bar scene by night. What we love about this place is the overall design and feel of the location. The outside has a southwestern flair to it and the inside is a scene from a design magazine.  Their food menu is light, with pastries and occasional tamale nights, but the coffee-to-cocktail experience is unparalleled. It's also a conducive spot for working on your laptop!

#4 Frontier

Upon entering Yucca Valley, don't miss Frontier in a prime downtown spot. They serve enticing drinks such as the cowboy cold brew, Rosé Lemonade Sangria, and classic coffee favorites. We frequent here for breakfast or lunch, and they provide ample seating for catching up with friends or getting some work done. It's an ideal stop before exploring the stores in downtown Yucca Valley.

#5 760 Coffee

During our home renovation in the summer of 2021, 760 Coffee was our go-to. This mobile organic coffee venue is known for its inventive drinks, from matcha frappés to energy-infused blended beverages. Their creativity and penchant for crafting unique caffeinated drinks set them apart. Their location varies between Joshua Tree and 29 Palms, so we advise checking their socials to see where they will be parked.

Honorable Mentions:

C&S Coffee Shop

At C&S Coffee Shop in downtown Yucca Valley, you'll experience a trip to a classic diner like you'd see in the movies. This local staple is the type of place where your coffee mug will never be empty, but don't expect to get a frappuccino or anything fancy. If you're just looking for a great cup of Joe and maybe a hearty meal, then this is the place. We recommended this place to our grandparents when they visited and they loved it. They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and of course, coffee and tea. Their menu boasts classics like delicious waffles, biscuits and gravy, and scrumptious burgers with crispy fries.

The Dez Fine Food

The Dez, situated in the heart of downtown Joshua Tree, offers exquisite Stumptown coffee. We frequently visit before heading to the park or when in need of a quick boost. It's great for on-the-go sandwiches, bagels, or salads. The reason it's only an honorable mention is that there's not really seating so it's more of a grab and go thing, but still up there when we need a quick caffeine fix.
